Founded in 1971, EvH Bochum is maintained by the Protestant Church in the Rhineland, the Protestant Church of Westphalia, and the Church of Lippe. With around 2,600 students, 73 full-time teaching staff, and over 140 contract lecturers, EvH Bochum is Germany’s largest Protestant university of applied sciences.

Rooted in a Christian understanding of human dignity and social justice, EvH Bochum offers academically founded education in social work, education, health care, and diaconal and church professions. Ethical reflection, personal development, and social responsibility are central to its mission.

Our Academic Profile

EvH Bochum offers six Bachelor and two Master programmes, all aligned with the European Bologna framework. The university combines academic excellence with strong practical orientation, preparing graduates for professional roles in social and healthcare services, education, and the church. In addition, advanced and continuing education programmes enable professionals in social and health sectors to gain new qualifications for future challenges.
